Executive Director (Business Manager or Chief Operating Officer)
Rutan & Tucker, a large full service law firm, is searching for an experienced Executive Director (Business Manager or Chief Operating Officer). This highly responsible position is based in the Firm's home office in Costa Mesa, California. The Executive Director has ultimate responsibility for all operational and practice support service areas aside from the actual practice of law, for all offices of the firm. This position reports to the Executive Committee and Managing Partner.
The individual in this position will have primary responsibility for managing all financial and administrative aspects of the firm through the functional specialist managers. In particular, the Executive Director will be responsible for the administration of firm offices, evaluation of systems and personnel, and will assist the Executive Committee with the formulation of long term planning for the firm.
The successful candidate must operate comfortably across a broad spectrum of responsibilities including financial and firm administration, technology, personnel management, and display sound business judgment. The individual will be an Ex-Officio member of most of the firm's management committees.
Qualified candidates will have an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area. MBA or graduate degree is preferred. The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of managerial experience in a law firm or professional services industry. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills. Litigation Paralegal
Rutan & Tucker has an employment opportunity available in our Costa Mesa office Trial Section for a litigation paralegal with a minimum of 5-7 years California and Federal litigation including all phases of discovery and e-discover and e-filing. Excellent oral and written communication skills required as well as proficiency with Concordance, Case Map, Live Note, Word 2007 and FileSite. Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program, Bachelors Degree and prior law firm experience are also required.

Patent Agent
Rutan & Tucker has an employment opportunity available for a Patent Prosecution Associate or Prosecution Patent Agent with a minimum 3 – 4 years patent prosecution experience. This position will assist partners in the Firm’s Intellectual Property practice in its Costa Mesa and Palo Alto offices.
Job Requirements
Applicants must have at least 3-4 years experience drafting patent applications and must be familiar with domestic and foreign requirements.
