Mr. Carruth has been practicing corporate and tax law since graduating from Boalt Hall in 1967. Mr. Carruth has been a partner at Rutan & Tucker since he joined the firm in 1983. He is a former Corporate section head and managing partner of the firm.
Mr. Carruth specializes in the representation of businesses in corporate and tax matters. Prior to joining Rutan & Tucker, Mr. Carruth spent four years in the Office of the General Counsel in the Treasury Department, was a partner in a large Los Angeles law firm and served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of a San Francisco-based oil company.
Mr. Carruth’s practice experience includes the full range of corporate transactions, including advising start-up companies, venture capital financings and mergers and acquisitions, Mr. Carruth works extensively with partnerships and limited liability companies in addition to corporations. His involvement includes extensive tax planning in connection with business transactions.
His clients include a broad scope of businesses with activities in southern California, including real estate, technology and manufacturing firms.
