COSTA MESA, California, May 31, 2011 – Ski Harrison, managing partner of Rutan & Tucker, LLP, California’s largest full-service law firm headquartered in Orange County, has been named a Pink Tie Guy by the Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
The title is given annually to seven men who are prominent, influential business leaders in Orange County. They are asked to advocate for the nonprofit organization’s mission to end breast cancer and to extend support in the business community. The honor was bestowed on Harrison by Sue Parks, the organization’s board president, at its recent annual Pink Tie Ball®, which was held at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The event raised more than $423,000 for vital breast health services. The color pink has become associated with the nonprofit’s community outreach efforts.
“I am honored to be selected as a Pink Tie Guy and believe wholeheartedly in the organization’s quest to find a cure for breast cancer,” said Harrison. “I plan to wear my new pink tie proudly.”
The class of 2011 Pink Tie Guys also include Ron Andrews, CEO of Clarient, Inc.; the honorable George Argyros, former ambassador to Spain; baseball Hall of Famer Rod Carew; Sperry Van Ness advisor Michael Gustafson; retired businessman Larry Pasternack; and South Coast Plaza director of retail design and construction Mike Paz.
“We are pleased to recognize these men who are brave enough to wear pink while they use their clout to fight breast cancer," said Parks.
In addition to the Pink Tie Ball, the Komen Orange County Affiliate maintains year-round endeavors, including ongoing breast health outreach to the local community and major fundraising events such as the Race for the Cure®, celebrating its 20th Annual on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011. Together with all Affiliates, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world's largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to ending breast cancer at every stage – from the causes to the cures and the pain and anxiety of every moment in between.
