OUR LIBRARY
The Rutan & Tucker Library and Information Center's collection of research materials is the largest private legal collection in Orange County. In addition to the main library on the 14th floor, the library has annexes for the tax, labor, and public law collections. Attorneys throughout the firm are encouraged to utilize the entire collection, depending on their particular needs. The Center's collection includes materials in the following areas:
- Bankruptcy law
- California and federal practice material
- Construction law
- Continuing legal education materials
- Copyright and trademark law
- Employment and labor law
- Environmental law
- Federal taxation
- Land use and zoning law
- Real property law and financing
- Corporate/Securities law and regulation
- Trial procedure
The goal of the Library and Information Center staff is to provide the most current legal resources in an efficient way.
The Library and Information Center strives to provide the most effective print and electronic resources, including the Internet. The legal publishing field, and electronic resources in general, are going through monumental changes. With this in mind, the Library and Information Center staff closely monitors the industry to insure that attorneys at Rutan & Tucker have the most current and accurate legal information. The Library and Information Center collection is modified as needed as the Firm develops new or existing practice areas in an efficient and timely manner.
Electronic Resources
The Library and Information Center has a variety of electronic resources available for use. The Center offers instruction by appointment or through MCLE presentations in researching the Internet, cite checking, and utilizing CD-ROM products.
Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE)
Rutan & Tucker is an approved provider of minimum continuing legal education (MCLE) by the State Bar of California. The State Bar of California has mandated that attorney's complete 25 hours of MCLE credits every three years. All attorneys should familiarize themselves with California Rules of Court, rule 9.1 and Bus. Prof. Code ยง 6070. For specific information regarding MCLE click here.
Individual attorneys are responsible for meeting and maintaining records of their own MCLE requirements.
The Library and Education Committee, in conjunction with the Library and Information Center, endeavors to bring a combination of live and prerecorded presentations every Wednesday. Frequent MCLE presentations are planned throughout the year. Occasional vendor presentations are also offered.
The Library and Information Center also maintains an extensive collection of self-study materials including videotapes and audiotapes. As with the Firm's live MCLE presentations, only the most relevant and up-to-date materials are collected, maintained, and offered for MCLE credit.
