Mr. Melzer joined four other well-known California attorneys in a broad-ranging forum to discuss recent trends in class action litigation, including, conflicting judicial opinions regarding class action waivers, challenges posed by “data breach” and statutory damage cases, pending Supreme Court decisions that may impact the future of class litigation as well as case developments in the areas of “ascertainability” and procedural due process. Mr. Melzer specializes in complex business litigation and is co-chair of the firm’s Unfair Competition/Class Action Defense practice group. His litigation and trial experience includes class and mass actions, false advertising and consumer claims, unfair competition, real estate litigation, and internal partnership and corporate disputes. He handles cases throughout the United States, in both Federal and State forums, frequently involving high profile or high dollar value disputes.
