Mr. Sims is a former partner, and now of counsel, in the Real Estate Section and has practiced commercial real estate law since joining Rutan & Tucker in 1968 following his graduation from Columbia University Law School, with honors. Dick became a partner in 1974. He has extensive experience in commercial real estate development, particularly in mixed use and shopping center projects and in representing buyers and sellers of institutional quality commercial real property, such as shopping centers, office buildings and apartments. In recent years, his practice emphasis has been on major tenant leasing, ground leasing and leasehold financing, loan restructuring and the negotiation of partnership and joint venture agreements.
Mr. Sims has written and lectured on a variety of real estate-related topics, including seller-financed acquisitions, shopping center redevelopment, real property acquisitions and general real estate law.
