COSTA MESA, Calif., March 22, 2012 – The Urban Land Institute (ULI), Orange County/Inland Empire District, recently honored Shawn Monterastelli, a partner with law firm Rutan & Tucker, LLP, with the Professional Services Award in the organization’s 2012 Emergent Leaderships Awards competition.
District Council leaders place great importance on highlighting the most outstanding local emerging leaders like Monterastelli whose contributions to their company and ULI make it clear that they lead by example. The awards competition also cited young leaders in the categories of Architecture, Engineering, Capital Markets, Property Development, Planning and Leadership. This year, 32 nominees were finalists for the awards. A judging committee of ULI Orange County/Inland Empire District Council Advisory Board members determined the recipients of the awards.
Monterastelli practices in the firm’s Real Estate Section and the Affordable Housing and Economic Development Practice Group. His practice includes all areas of real estate transactions, including construction, leasing, joint venture structuring, financing and development. He has particular expertise in the areas of construction and leasing. This includes drafting and negotiating construction, design and consulting agreements for all types of projects and in drafting, negotiating and restructuring leases and subleases for tenants and landlords for shopping centers, office parks and industrial buildings.
In addition to his work with the Urban Land Institute, Monterastelli is a volunteer worker for Feed the Hungry, performs pro bono legal services and is the current Board President for the Orange County Children's Therapeutic Arts Center, and is actively involved in his local church. He graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2002.
