Rutan & Tucker attorney Alan Fenstermacher was recently appointed as the City Attorney for the City of Poway in San Diego County. Mr. Fenstermacher, who is in the law firm’s Government and Regulatory practice, earned the position after an extensive RFP process, where nine different firms submitted proposals. While Rutan & Tucker’s attorneys are no strangers to the city, having provided special counsel services in 2017 relating to elections issues, this is the first time anyone at the law firm has served as the City Attorney for Poway.
Acting as both general counsel and special counsel, Mr. Fenstermacher has extensive experience advising public agencies on the wide variety of issues they face. He also regularly handles litigation in state and federal court on cases involving CEQA, eminent domain, election issues, public procurement, water disputes, fair housing laws, and a wide variety of other real estate, land use and environmental issues. His litigation experience is critical to informing his transactional advice, as he is well aware of the potential pitfalls his clients may face. Likewise, Mr. Fenstermacher’s representation of private parties offers unique insight and experience when advising his public agency clients.
