Amira Bucklin is an associate in Rutan's Intellectual Property practice, where she focuses on data privacy, cybersecurity, and technology law. She brings a multinational perspective to her practice, advising clients on complex privacy, regulatory, and transactional matters across a broad range of industries.
Amira advises clients on compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other domestic and international privacy laws. Her practice includes advising organizations ranging from emerging companies to multinational corporations on AI governance, cross-border data transfers, data breach response and notification obligations, and other data protection issues affecting highly regulated sectors, such as healthcare and financial services. She also counsels organizations on developing privacy governance frameworks, implementing data protection policies, and managing regulatory risk in an evolving digital landscape.
A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Amira holds certifications in European, U.S., and Asian privacy law through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Prior to earning her LL.M. degree at the University of California Irvine School of Law, she completed a judicial clerkship with the District Court of Frankfurt, Germany, and gained experience as a trainee associate with several international law firms, building a strong foundation in cross-border legal practice. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Amira is deeply committed to community service and pro bono work. Through her involvement with the OC Human Trafficking Project, she offers pro bono legal services, leveraging her legal expertise for the greater good.
