Amira Bucklin

Amira Bucklin is a privacy associate in Rutan’s Intellectual Property team. She excels in data privacy and cybersecurity law and has a multinational range of experience in transactional law and compliance.

Amira is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and holds certifications in European (CIPP/E), U.S. (CIPP/US), and Asian (CIPP/A) privacy law. She advises clients on compliance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and a variety of other laws and regulations. In addition, Amira helps businesses craft data privacy policies and procedures related to regulatory compliance, consumer protection law compliance, and risk minimization.

Prior to joining Rutan, Amira was a senior associate at a boutique firm specializing in privacy and cybersecurity law, where she assisted clients from startups to multinationals in complying with their privacy, cybersecurity, and data breach notification obligations. Before earning her LL.M. degree, Amira completed her legal clerkship at the District Court of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, during which time she has worked as a trainee associate for several international law firms.

Amira earned her law degree from the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe University Frankfurt School of Law, where she was Assistant Coach to the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court team. She received her LL.M. from the University of California Irvine School of Law.

Amira is fluent in German and speaks conversational Arabic.
