Overview
Jackson Backer is an associate in Rutan & Tucker’s Litigation and Trial department. Jackson’s practice involves a variety of business and civil litigation matters, including business and intentional torts, business contract cases, construction defect and delay claims, insurance litigation, and bankruptcy. Jackson previously served as a law clerk to United States District Court Judge Thomas J. Whelan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.
Jackson graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Irvine School of Law and served as an Associate Editor for both the UC Irvine Law Review and UC Irvine Journal of International, Transnational, and Comparative Law. Jackson was also the highest performing student in his Administrative Law, Advanced Torts, Conflict of Laws, Consent, and Advanced International Justice Clinic classes; and was the second highest performing student in his Property, Bankruptcy, and Jurisprudence classes. While in law school, Jackson was a judicial extern for the Honorable Deborah J. Saltzman of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California and served as a research fellow to UC Irvine Law professors Gregory Shaffer and Beatrice Tice.
Prior to attending law school, Jackson worked as a paralegal for an Am Law 100 firm and interned with the United States House of Representatives.
