COSTA MESA, Calif., June 20, 2013 – Michael Rubin, a senior partner with Rutan & Tucker LLP, the largest full-service law firm based in Orange County, has been elected Regional Chair of the Orange County/Long Beach Region of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

Rubin has practiced law at Rutan & Tucker since graduating from the University of Michigan Law School (Magna cum laude) in 1974. Co-chair of the law firm’s Condemnation/Property Valuation Practice Group, his practice emphasis is in Real Estate, Eminent Domain, Public Agency & Business Litigation, as well as Land Use Entitlement/Regulation, and Property Tax matters.
Rubin’s partners’ at Rutan & Tucker have honored him with its John B. Hurlbut award for “setting the highest standard of excellence, teamwork and integrity.” He has been selected by the Los Angeles Magazine every year since 2005 as one of Southern California’s “Super Lawyers,” an honor bestowed on 5% of Southern California’s attorneys each year. His leadership in the eminent domain/right of way field was recognized by his selection as Professional of the Year in 2002 by the Orange County Chapter of the International Right-of-Way Association.
Rubin’s philanthropic activities are reflected in his being honored in 2009 with the Judge Learned Hand Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Jewish Committee. He has been on the Board of the Orange County/Long Beach Chapter of the Anti-Defamation League for many years, serving as the Vice Chair from 2012-2013 and previously as the Chair of the Civil Rights Committee and also serves as an Associate National Commissioner of the ADL. He is a long time Board member of the Anaheim Community Foundation. He served on the Board of Directors of Opera Pacific from 1983 through 2004 and was honored as recipient of Opera Pacific’s Niles Gates Leadership Award (1994) and as Opera Pacific’s “Volunteer of the Year” (1992). He has also served as Chairperson of the Education Committee of the Orange County Bar Association and as Orange County Chairperson of the University of Michigan Law School Fund. Rubin is a member of Temple Beth Sholom where he is a regular attendee of Torah Study on Saturday mornings. Rubin’s wife and life-partner, Marlin, passed away in 2011, but blessed him with 4 terrific children (2 daughters and 2 sons).
