ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, Nov. 23, 2010 – Distinguished attorney John Hurlbut, a senior partner at Rutan & Tucker, LLP, is a recipient of the Orange County/Long Beach Region of the Anti-Defamation League’s 2010 Marcus Kaufman Jurisprudence Award.
The prize is named after Justice Marcus Kaufman, the 103rd Justice of the California Supreme Court and a champion of civil rights. It is given annually to those attorneys who make very significant contributions to their communities and to the legal profession. The award presentation took place at The Island Hotel in Newport Beach.
Hurlbut became a partner at Rutan & Tucker in 1970, and has been practicing business litigation at the firm since graduating from Stanford Law School in 1964. He is a former managing partner of the firm. He was the Orange County Bar Association’s Harmon G. Scoville Award recipient in 2003 and the Orange County Public Law Center’s 2007 Attorney of the Year. He was named one of the nation’s best commercial litigators in the November 2009 Corporate Counsel edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
