COSTA MESA, Calif., January 11, 2013 – Michael T. Hornak, a senior partner at Rutan & Tucker LLP, California’s largest full-service business law firm based in Orange County, has been elected Chairman of the Board of the Orange County Business Council (OCBC) for 2013.

A former managing partner at Rutan, Hornak joined the firm in 1981 and practices in its Trial Section. His broad-based business litigation, arbitration and counseling practice ranges from the defense of class actions asserting securities fraud, violations of consumer remedies and insurance product misstatements, to the handling of complex intellectual property, breach of contract, corporate governance, business tort and trade secrets disputes. His practice extends to state, federal and appellate courts, as well as arbitrations and mediations.
Hornak received an honorable mention by the Orange County Business Journal as one of 2008’s Most Influential Businesspeople in Orange County. He has been repeatedly selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America, as well as a Southern California “Super Lawyer.” He has previously chaired OCBC’s Government Affairs and Legal Affairs Committees.
Hornak received his law degree from UCLA in 1978 and his undergraduate degree from Yale in 1975. A hockey enthusiast, he is actively involved in the sport, practicing and playing at ice rinks in nearby communities.
