Costa Mesa, CA – Rutan & Tucker announced today the hiring of two associates who both advise clients on issues relating to cybersecurity and data protection.
Michael Hellbusch is in the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group and focuses primarily on data privacy and regulatory compliance issues. He is co-chair of the Orange County Chapter of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and is certified in U.S. privacy law (CIPP/US) and privacy management (CIPM) from the IAPP. He works with clients on issues relating to national and international data protection requirements including the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), privacy program implementation and management, data breach reporting requirements, protection of digital assets. In addition, he crafts cyber policies, procedures, and directives related to regulatory compliance, asset protection, consumer protection law compliance and risk minimization. He writes and presents frequently on the topic of data privacy. Mike received his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2008.
Danielle Serbin is in the firm’s Trial Department and came from Gibson Dunn. Danielle has considerable experience defending clients in privacy and cybersecurity class action matters. She also provides advice and counsel to clients in the cybersecurity and data privacy arena. She has experience drafting corporate incident response plans and privacy policies as well as advising companies on compliance with international, federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing privacy, social media, data security and related issues. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in 2012.
