Irvine, CA – Rutan & Tucker LLP is proud to announce that the firm has achieved 2022-2023 Mansfield Certification from Diversity Lab. To earn this honor, the firm participated in the Mansfield Rule Certification process which is designed to ensure that talent at every level in the law firm has a fair and equitable opportunity to advance into leadership.

To achieve Mansfield Certification, Rutan has had to implement a behavioral science and data-driven approach for leadership and become transparent with this information including leadership roles, advancement processes and compensation policies. Certified firms considered broad slates of qualified talent for leadership roles that included at least 30% historically underrepresented lawyers—such as women lawyers, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities.
Rutan reported that since 2018, the number of women partners has increased by 51%, and two-thirds of its associates are classified as “diverse.” Half of its 147 lawyers fall into the diverse category as well as 24 of its 74 partners.
Diversity Lab’s Mansfield methodology is rooted in changes to systems and processes, not exclusivity or discrimination. Mansfield ensures that opportunities for advancement are inclusive by broadening talent pools instead of instilling quotas, set-asides, or requirements unrelated to an individual’s qualifications.
