Rutan & Tucker LLP recently secured a $1.5 million jury verdict for its client that was owed more than $1 million in unpaid invoices. The opposing company filed a cross-complaint asserting various claims for fraud, negligence, and interference and sought nearly $4 million in damages. Over the course of a two-week jury trial, Rutan successfully established that its client met its business obligations and proved the company did not engage in any tortious conduct. The jury reached a verdict awarding Rutan’s client its unpaid invoices and interest and zeroed out the opposing party’s 12 cross-claims. The trial team was led by Proud Usahacharoenporn, Michael Malakouti, and Barrett Gould. Other members of the team included Lisa Neal, Mary Brady, Laura Fenwick, and the Rutan’s litigation support staff.
